John McCain will den Präsidentschaftswahlkampf aussetzen: Das US-Finanzsystem droht zusammenzubrechen – mit unabsehbaren Folgen für die Weltwirtschaft. Auch McCains Wahlkampfteam ist ganz krank vor Sorge. Aber nicht deshalb.
Sehr aufschlussreich sind sie, die aktuellen Mails vom McCain-Team an meinen amerikanischen Namensvetter, die bei mir landen, weil ich eine .com-Adresse habe:
Seine running maid Sarah Palin fürchtet offenbar, ihr Sohn könne bald aus dem Irak zurückkommen. Deshalb fleht sie per Mail: “We need your support more than ever (…) As the mother of an active duty soldier, I want John McCain as our next Commander in Chief. And I want to elect a Congressional majority in November who has the courage to support our troops and who will stop bowing to political pressure and admit the surge has been successful.”
Eine wild empörte Nachricht schreibt Scott Bensing, Executive Director des National Republican Senatorial Committee: “Montana’s Democrat governor boasted that he tampered with Montana’s Senate election in 2006. He now says he was only joking … however; even joking about tampering with elections is no laughing matter!” Und zwar vor allem, weil: “Montana’s Senate race was one of three that we lost by just a few thousand votes (2,847 votes to be exact). In each of those races, at the last minute, liberals flooded the airwaves with nasty, misleading attack ads.”
Pete Kirkham, Executive Director des National Republican Congressional Committee, lässt es keine Ruhe, dass er noch keine Antwort auf seine Mail von vor ein paar Tagen bekommen hat, in der ich ihm mitteilen sollte, warum Sarah Palin meiner Meinung nach “a great pick for Vice President” sei. Jetzt schreibt Pete: “The response to this email has been great! Over 100,000 people have given their opinions so I wanted to make sure you saw it! If you have not already, please take a moment to let us know your opinion about Vice Presidential nominee – Governor Sarah Palin. Also, please make sure to forward this email to other Republicans so they have a chance to respond as well.”
Senator Orrin Hatch, dem Vice Chairman des National Republican Senatorial Committee, flattert der Nadelstreifen, weil Ex-Vizepräsident Al Gore unter die Spendensammler gegangen ist – für die Gegenseite, versteht sich. “Last week, Gore teamed up with MoveOn.org under the banner of ‘Obama’s going to need some help’”, schreibt Orrin mir ganz aufgeregt. Schlimm, schlimm, denn: “When Al Gore speaks, liberals sheepishly follow. (…) Far-left liberals like Al Gore and MoveOn.org are putting it all on the line in 2008 to elect Obama President and gain 60-seat filibuster-proof supermajority in the U.S. Senate. If they achieve their goal, they will seize total control of our government.”
Und die Finanzkrise? Darum kümmert sich John McCain persönlich. Das muss reichen.
